CCI Approves Acquisitions of API Holdings Private Ltd and Mukand Sumi Special Steel Ltd

• CCI gave the approval to the acquisition of about 8% equity shareholding in API Holdings Private Limited by TPG Growth V SF Markets Pte. Ltd.

• The Acquirer would be jointly funded by TPG (i.e. TPG Global, LLC and its affiliates) and Korean Investment Corporation.

• CCI gave approval to the acquisition of 51% of equity share capital of Mukand Sumi Special Steel Ltd(MSSSL) by Jamnalal Sons Private Ltd (JSPL).

Skyroot Aerospace becomes 1st Indian Company to Successfully Test Fire Solid-Fueled Rocket Engine 'Kalam-5'

• Skyroot Aerospace, an Indian Space Startup successfully test fired a solid propulsion rocket engine named 'Kalam-5' from an Private Test Facility at Nagpur, Maharashtra. It is the 1st Private company of India to successfully design, develop & test a full solid-fueled rocket stage.

• It will now be used for propulsion of their maiden rocket 'Vikram-1' which is expected to be launched in December, 2021 with the help of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

• "Kalam-5' is the 1st of 5 Kalam series of solid rocket motors, the other four rocket motors are expected to be tested in 2021.

Oakridge Energy Partners with Delhi Govt & Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to Solarise Schools in Delhi

• Oakridge Energy, a Solar energy firm has signed agreements with Delhi Government & Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to solarise schools in Delhi. The project will be developed by Oakridge & subsidised under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy's (MNRE) capital subsidy scheme for Government Buildings.

• Oakridge has set a target to solarise 1,000 schools & educational institutions by 2022.

• In 2020, Oakridge solarized around 15 schools of the Department of Education in Delhi which included the Oakridge Energy's largest solar power project of 217 KW in Delhi University at Lady Irwin College.

• The solarization of government schools and colleges is being undertaken under 'Delhi Solar Policy 2016-20'.

'DigiNest' & Online Punjab Advertisement Release Order System

• Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab virtually launched a mobile application 'DigiNest'. It will enable people to have digital access to the directory of state govt, this enables people to reach out to the officers easily by calling or sending Email.

• In addition to this, he also launched an online Punjab Advertisement Release Order System. This will bring transparency and efficiency in the entire process of releasing State Government's advertisements and payments to media houses.

• The Online Punjab Advertisement Release Order System will help to streamline the process to issue the ads and the release of payments.

Jharkhand Launches 'Kisan Fasal Rahat Yojana' - Crop Relief Scheme

• Jharkhand has launched the state's own crop relief scheme 'Kisan Fasal Rahat Yojana' which will replace Government of India's crop insurance scheme Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). The new scheme is a compensation scheme which will provide security cover to farmers of Jharkhand in cases of crop damage due to natural hazards.

• Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Co-operative, Jharkhand will be the implementing agency of the scheme.

• In PMFBY, the State Government has to pay a huge amount to insurance companies as Premium.

CSC Partnered with IIT Delhi to Set Up Design & Innovation Lab for Rural Entrepreneurs

• Common Services Centers(CSC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(Meity) partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to set up a design and innovation lab named "Design and Innovation in VLE's Indigenous Network Ecosystem(DIVINE) Lab", which will research on new products and services for Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLE).

• The design and innovation lab will be established at the Department of Design, IIT Delhi.

• Under this MoU, CSC will provide IIT Delhi Students with the access to the network of CSC and identify problems in rural India

• To channelize the rural connection for the students of IIT Delhi and faculty and conduct continuous research in the rural entrepreneurial ecosystem and design new products and services for VLES.

Vijay Rupani unveils 'Gujarat Solar Power Policy 2021'

• Gujarat Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani unveiled the 'Gujarat Solar Power Policy 2021' which will be effective from 2021-2025.

• Gujarat has set a target to achieve 30, 000 MW through sustainable energy sources by 2022.

• Any individual or industry can produce solar power in their premises as per their requirements, there will be no cap on the capacity of Solar power production.

• Consumers can lease their roof or premises to a third party for generation & consumption of power on the same premises. They can also sell their surplus power at a tariff of INR 2.25 per unit.

• Any individual can set up solar projects upto 4 MW and supply entire power to DISCOMS (Distribution Companies).

• As of March, 2020, Gujarat had installed around 50, 915 subsidised rooftop solar plants in the residential segment, it is the highest in India.

• According to data released by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Gujarat at 11,826.48 MW has the 3rd highest renewable power generation capacity in India.
