Coastal Security Police Launched "Kadalu App" for fishermen in Udupi

  • Karnataka launched the "Kadalu App to support and help the fishermen
  • The app was conceptualised and developed by Coastal Security Police for the Department of Fisheries, Government of Karnataka. The Kadalu app will support the fishermen to submit the information about their arrival and departure from the fishing harbors through their smartphones.
  • This will support the Coastal Security Police to keep count on the number of fishing boats in deep sea and speed up the search and rescue operations in case of any turbulent weather.

NOPV2 vaccine for Polio becomes the 1st Ever Vaccine to be listed under WHO's EUL

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) listed nOPV2 (novel Oral Polio Taccine type 2) Polio vaccine produced by Indonesia's Bio Farma PT for Emergency Use Listing (EUL), this is the first approval by WHO of its kind amidst several outbreaks in several parts of the world.
  • The nOPV2 vaccine is aimed at containing outbreaks of circulating Vaccine-Derived Polio Virus (CVDPVs) in African Countries, Meditarranean countries as well as Western Pacific and Southeast Asian Region.
  • VDPVS are caused by the virus strains used in the polio vaccines regaining their ability to cause polio.

Emergency Use Listing (EUL);

  • EUL Procedure assesses the suitability of yet-to-be licensed health products during public health emergencies
  • The main objective behind EUL is to make the medicines, vaccines and diagnostics available faster to address the emergency (Public Health Emergency of International Concern).

Lewis Hamilton wins F1 DHL Turkish Grand Prix 2020

"Paatal Lok" Actor Asif Basra Passed Away at 53

  • The 53-year-old actor Asif Basra, committed suicide and found dead in a private complex in Mcleodganj, Dharmashala, Himachal Pradesh. He was well known for his role as a senior executive in "Paatal Lok" series.

  • Rachna Bisht Rawat launched her new book "Insomnia: Army Stories" featuring stories based on life in the armed forces. The book is published by the Penguin Random house India.
  • Rachna Bisht Rawat stated that all the characters featured in Insomnia are not heroic, the characters represent ordinary people who have their own weaknesses and failures.
  • She also stated that this book speaks more about emotions in various forms and speaks less about the army. The book also features about Post-traumatic stress disorder murder, human right violations and the horrors of war.

Jharkhand Assembly passes resolution on 'Sarna Code' seeking separate Identity Code for Tribals

  • Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on 'Sarna Code' during a special one-day assembly session The resolution seeks inclusion of Sarna as a separate religion in the 2021 census.
  • The bill will now be sent to the Central Government for approval.
  • Sarna Followers are worshippers of nature; they do not consider themselves as Hindus.
  • They pray to trees and hills and believe in protecting the forest areas.
  • Around 50 Lakh Tribals in India had put their religion as 'Sarna' in the 2011 census, even though it was not a code.
