  • Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways inaugurated the renaming of 115 year old Naugarh railway station to Siddharthnagar railway station, located at Siddharthnagar district in UP, through a video link.

Gujarat Govt to launch Digital Seva Setu Program for Rural Areas

  • In order to ensure optimum utilization of technology for public welfare, Gujarat Government has decided to launch Digital Seva Setu Program for the rural areas.
  • The program is an initiative under the center's BharatNet project that connects the Village Panchayats through fiber network.
  • Phase-I of the program that covers 2000 village panchayats to be launched on October 8,2020,Another 8,000 village panchayats to be provided this service by December, 2020. The villages of Gujarat to be connected with a 100 MBPS (Megabits Per Second) optical fiber network under the program. The aim is to make every e- Mini Sachivalay.

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani released Sanction Letters to two Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) for the Country's First Ever Organic Spices Seed Park in Patan & Banaskantha districts for production of Cumin & Fennel Seeds.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant launches 'DISHTAVO' - Online E-Learning Platform

  • Goa CM Pramod Sawant inaugurated DISHTAVO (Digital Integrated System for Holistic Teaching and Virtual Orientations) YouTube Channel, a unique initiative of the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Goa.
  • DISHTAVO program aims to create online e-content in form of video lectures of syllabus for colleges affiliated to Goa University.

IIT Kharagpur Developed iMedix Telemedicine Homecare Technology for COVID-19

  • IIT Kharagpur's Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) has developed iMedia telemedicine technology for homecare amid COVID-19 to provide critical health care support to the patients through remote consultation by a physician.
  • The device highlights the digital healthcare system and promotes social distancing protocol.
  • The system is adopted for public use at the IIT Kharagpur on campus healthcare system.
  • On a trial basis the base model has been installed at Swasthya Bhawan, West Bengal.

C-DAC to Commission India's fastest HPC-AI supercomputer 'PARAM Siddhi - Artificial intelligence' with NVIDIA

  • In order to be at par with international standards in Al supercomputing research and innovation, the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) will commission India's largest HPC-Al supercomputer, "PARAM Siddhi - Al '.
  • The initiative was headed by Abhishek Das, Scientist and Program Director (HPC-Al Infrastructure Development) at C-DAC, who conceived the idea and designed the architecture for the largest HPC-AI infrastructure in India.
  • PARAM Siddhi - Al will have 210 AI Petaflops (6.5 Petaflops Peak DP) and will be based on the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD reference architecture comprising 42 NVIDIA DGX A100 systems, connected with NVIDIA Mellanox HDR InfiniBand networking along with indigenously developed HPC-AI engine. MOHUA + Swiggy → To Bring Street Food Business Online under PM SVANIDHI

  • Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA) has signed an MoU with Swiggy, a food ordering and delivery platform in India, to onboard street food vendors on its ecommerce platform, a first of its kind initiative.
  • This will provide online access to thousands of consumers and help these vendors grow their businesses across cities.
  • On pilot basis, this program will be initiated by taking 250 street vendors from five cities viz, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Delhi, Indore, and Varanasi. Upon the successful completion of the pilot, it will be expanded pan-India in phases.

Delhi-Mumbai e-way to have India's first five "Animal Bridges"

  • Delhi-Mumbai expressway will have India's first five animal overpass or "animal bridges" with a combined length of over 2.5 km for safe passage of wildlife. These bridges are inspired from the Wildlife crossings in the Netherlands.
  • These will ensure no disturbance and no chance of any conflict to the Ranthambore Wildlife Corridor connecting Ranthambhore and Mukundra (Darrah) wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan as the wild animals will get such passage at every 500 meters interval.

  • A 1320 km Greenfield project with an estimated cost of around Rs 890 crore will cut the travel time from Mumbai to Delhi from 24 hours to 13 hours.

2nd edition of Bilateral Naval Exercise Bongo Sagar held between India-Bangladesh along with 3rd edition of CORPAT

  • The 2nd edition of Indian Navy - Bangladesh Navy Bilateral Exercise Bongo Sagar was held in Northern Bay of Bengal which was followed by 3rd edition of IN - BN Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT)
  • While the aim of exercise Bongo Sagar is developing interoperability and joint operational skills through a conduct of a wide spectrum of maritime exercises and operations, on the other hand CORPAT is for strengthened understanding between both the navies and instituted measures to stop conduct of unlawful activities.

  • King of Jordan, Abdullah II accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz.
  • The monarch dissolved the parliament on 2nd October 2020, at the end of its 4-year term.
  • Omar al-Razzaz will stay in caretaker capacity until the appointment of a successor to oversee the parliamentary elections on 10th November 2020 and formation of the new government.

India, France to launch Constellation of Maritime Surveillance Satellites for IOR Region

  • National Center for Space Studies (CNES) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will jointly launch Constellation of Maritime Surveillance Satellites for Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
