Mizoram set to adopt "COVID-19: No tolerance Fortnight"

  • The Mizoram government is all set to take stringent measures against the rising COVID-19 cases.
  • The state will adopt "COVID-19: No Tolerance Fortnight" from October 26.
  • By this, the government aims to break the chain of local transmission in Mizoram State.
  • So this, "zero tolerance" drive have been adopted for 14 days in the state.

Bharat Biotech's Covaxin got nod for third phase clinical trial

  • India's indigenous COVID-19 vaccine candidate, COVAXIN, has received the nod for Phase-3 clinical trials in the country.
  • The vaccine has been developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
  • The vaccine was given approval by the Subject Expert Committee which functions under the drug regulator Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
  • In the Third Phase of trials, the potential vaccine candidate will be tested on over 28 thousand people aged 18 years and above.

Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh got top position for implementing PMGSY

  • Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh has bagged the first position among 30 districts of the country for successfully implementing the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
  • Union Ministry of Rural Development declared the list of top performing 30 districts in the country.
  • Mandi district has received top position for constructing roads of maximum length in 2020-21.

  • scheme that aims to provide all weather road connectivity to the unconnected villages. The scheme was launched in 2000 by Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. "Life in Miniature" Project was launched

  • Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (1 / C) Shri Prahlad Singh Patel launched the "Life in Miniature" project. The project is a collaboration between the National Museum, New Delhi: Ministry of Culture and Google Arts & Culture. The partnership between the trio began in 2011.
  • This app has been launched to bring the corpus of paintings online, in order to make users to explore these miniature marvels guided by Artificial Intelligence.
  • Under this project, people from across the world would be able to view online hundred of miniature paintings from the National Museum on Google Arts and Culture.
  • People can view and experience the first Augmented reality-powered art gallery on the Google Arts & Culture app.
  • The artworks will be showcased along five universal themes including the human relationship with nature, love, celebration, faith and power.

  • About Facial Recognition System - It is a computer based application which will allow the user to download scorecard, passing certificate, migration certificate and other important documents for students of class 10th and 12th. The application is based on the facial recognition method. The app scans the student's face and match it with the images in the board's repository. It recognizes the facial features of an individual giving up to 99% correct results.

Indian Navy deployed its first Batch of Women Pilots

  • The Indian Navy deployed its first batch of women pilots on Dornier aircraft at Kochi.
  • The deployment was done by the Southern Naval Command of Indian Navy.
  • The first batch includes three women pilots - Lieutenant Divya Sharma, Lieutenant Shivangi and Lieutenant Shubhangi Swaroop.

AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched "YSR Bima" Scheme for Families of Accident Victims to get Rs.10000 Aid

  • YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh CM launched the "YSR Bima" scheme to provide insurance cover for death or permanent disability of any family member of the beneficiary.
  • The scheme provides an immediate financial aid of Rs.10000 for the families of the victims.
  • It will be the first time in India that a state government will be single-handedly funding the insurance scheme.
  • The immediate assistance will be provided through the Village and Ward Secretariats.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma launched "micro ATM" in Shillong

  • Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma, launched "micro automated teller machine (ATM)" and distributed the same to the Business Correspondent Agents (BCAs) during an event, organized at Yojana Bhavan in Main Secretariat, Shillong.
  • Micro ATM is a hand-held device, which will be operated by the BCA in rural areas to enable access to banking services, particularly withdrawals.
  • The initiative is promoted by the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS) in partnership with Meghalaya Rural Bank (MRB) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

B Venkataraman, Former IAS Officer & Author of Chola History Books Passed Away

  • Former IAS officer and the Authority of Chola History and Architecture B Venkataraman, passed away at the age of 95 at a private hospital in Delhi.
  • His wife Leela Venkataraman was a renowned dance critic.
  • Along with his father S.R. Balasubrahmanyam he co-authored the book titled "Later Chola Temples".
