India's 'Largest Piggery Mission' launched in Meghalaya

  • Meghalaya launched India's Biggest Piggery Project with an outlay of Rs 209 Crores. It is being launched under the aegis of Meghalaya Livestock Enterprises Advancement Society(MLEADS) and funded by the National Cooperative Development Corporation(NCDC).
  • The main objective of the piggery mission is to reduce the annual import of Pork worth Rs 150 Crore and make Meghalaya self-sufficient ("Aatma Nirbhar") in Pork production over the next 3 years.
  • The program will be implemented with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to ensure that people in villages will get benefited from it.

Madhya Pradesh Govt re-introduces Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi Scheme

  • Madhya Pradesh Government during its 5th virtual cabinet meeting decided to reintroduce Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi Scheme to provide nutritious and quality food to underprivileged people at a subsidized rate.
  • The scheme will be implemented by the Departments of Food and Civil Supplies and Urban Development
  • The amount for per plate has been increased to Rs 10 from Rs 5.

Nagaland Govt launched its 1st 'Naga Telehealth' Tele Medicine Platform

  • In order to provide quality healthcare services at the Ayushman Bharat - Health and Wellness Centers in Nagaland, S Pangnyu Phom, Nagaland Minister of Health and Family Welfare launched the state's first tele-medicine platform 'Naga Telehealth' in Kohima, Nagaland.
  • It was developed by the state government in partnership with NISHTHA, a US Agency for International Development (USAID) 's health systems strengthening project, implemented by Jhpiego
  • The platform enables people to connect with medical officers and specialist doctors to receive free of cost general and specialized tele-consultation at their doorstep.

Atal Innovation Mission Launches Aatma nirbhar Bharat ARISE-ANIC Initiative

  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog launched Aatmanirbhar Bharat ANIC-ARISE Challenges(Atal New India Challenges in Applied Research and Innovation for medium and Small Enterprises) to stimulate applied research and innovation in Indian Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and startups.
  • It will be driven by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and four ministries namely Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to facilitate innovative solutions to sectoral problems.
  • The ARISE-ANIC programme will support applied research-based innovations by providing funding support of up to Rs 50 lakh for speedy development of the proposed technology solution or the product.
  • The main objective of the programme is to collaborate with Ministries and associated industries to catalyse research, innovation and give innovative solutions to sector problems.

Prime Minister launches PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, e-Gopala App & several initiatives in Bihar

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, e-Gopala App for farmers in Bihar through virtual mode. He launched several initiatives in fisheries, animal husbandry dairy and agriculture sectors in Bihar.

  • The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is a flagship scheme focused on sustainable development of fisheries sector in the country with an estimated investment of Rs 20,050 crores for its implementation duning a period of 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25 in all States / Unian Territories.
  • The investment under PMMSY is the highest ever in the fisheries sector.

  • During the current financial year (2020-21), Government of India has sanctioned the proposal of Government of Bihar at a total project cost of Rs.107.00 crore for major components like establishment of Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), construction of Biofloc ponds for aquaculture, finfish hatcheries, construction of new ponds for aquaculture , support services (Matsya Seva Kendra). and establishment of a Brood Bank.

World is getting closer to passing 1.5-degree Celsius Warming Limit as per UN 2020 Report

  • As per the United Nations Science 2020 report, the second in a series that the world is nearing to pass the temperature limit set by global leaders 5 years ago(limits set in 2015 by world leaders in the Paris climate change agreement) and may exceed it in the next decade or so.
  • In the next 5 year, the world has about a 1-in-4 chance to experience a year that is hot enough to keep the global temperature at 2.7 degrees (1.5 ° C) above pre-industrial times.
  • It has been compiled by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), with input from the Global Carbon Project, UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (UNESCO-IOC), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), UN Environment Program (UNEP) and the Met Office.

Wushu Star Poonam Khatri's Silver Medal at 2019 World Championship Upgraded to Gold Medal

  • Poonam Khatri who won the Silver Medal at the 15 * edition of World Wushu Championships (WWC) 2019 held at Minhang Gymnasium in Shanghai, China has now been upgraded to Gold Medal.
  • Poonam is now the third Indian to win a gold in Wushu World Championship after Pooja Kadyan (2017) and Praveen Kumar (2019)
  • Her Gold Medal got upgraded after Iran's Maryam Hashemi failed in her dope test. Maryam wan the gold medal in the women's Sanda event after defeating Poonam Khatri in the finals af the 75 kg category.
