MeitY banned 118 Chinese Mobile Apps

  • Ministry of Electronics and Information & Technology banned 118 Chinese Mobile Applications.
  • The mobile applications have been banned as they were found to be harmful to the Sovereignty, Integrity. Defense of India and Public Order.
  • The apps have been banned under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedures and Safeguards for Blocking of Access by Information by Public) Rules 2009.
  • Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center. under the Ministry of Home Affairs had sent a recommendation to the Ministry of Electronics and Information & Technology for concerns of Data Security

AP Government signs MoU with CSIR-IICT to set up Bulk Drug Pharma Park

  • Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-ICT) to set up a Bulk Drug Park (BDP) in the state.
  • The park will be set up in a minimum of 2,000 acres al a cost of Rs 6,940 crores in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh.
  • It is being set up under the BDPS scheme of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India.

ACC approved restructuring of the Indian Railways and appointed first ever CEO of IR

  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the organizational restructuring of the Indian Railways, which includes the merger of eight Group A services and also approved the appointment af the current chairman of the Railway Board VK Yadav as the first ever CEO of IR .
  • Along with the CEO post he also holds the chairman post,
  • Union Cabinet has already given a nad fad the restructuring of Indian Railways in December 2019. 
  • The 8 Group A services will be consolidated into a central service called the Indian Railway Management Service.
  • The Indian Railway Medical Service (IRMS) will be renamed the Indian Railway Health Service (IRHS).
  • After this restructuring process, now Indian Railways has five member railway board, which includes CEO along with four members who are responsible under Infrastructure. Operations & Business Development, Rolling Stock and Finance.
  • In addition to VK Gupta, 4 others have been appointed namely:
  • Pradeep Kumar - Member, Infrastructure
  • PC Sharma - Member, Traction and Rolling Stock

ACC approved restructuring of the Indian Railways and appointed first ever CEO of IR

  • 3 apex level post surrendered
  • According to the decision of the cabinet, with this rearrangement three apex level posts, namely; Member (Staff), Member (Engineering) and Member (Materials Management) in the Railway Board have been surrendered.

India ranks 48th in the 13th Edition of Global Innovation Index 2020 released by WIPO

  • For the first time, India joined the group of top 50 countries in the 13th edition of Global Innovation Index (GH) 2020, as it took the 48th rank with a score of 35.59 in the annual report jointly released by World Intellectual Property Organization, Cornell University and INSEAD Business School
  • The Theme of the 13th edition of the GII 2020 is "Who Will Finance Innovation?"

  • India occupied the 52nd position in 2019, and 81st in the year 2015.

  • UK based Times Higher Education (THE) released the World University Rankings 2021.

SIDBI + Maharashtra Signed Pact to Develop MSME Ecosystem

  • Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Maharashtra to develop the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem in the state. This decision has been taken on the lines of the recommendations of the Upendra Kumar (UK) Sinha Committee on MSMEs set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) envisaged more focused engagement of SIDBI with State Governments for MSME promotion and development.

Adani Group will purchase 74% Stake in Mumbai International Airport Limited

  • Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), holding company of Adani Group for its airports business (and a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited - "AEL": collectively called "Adani") has entered into an agreement to acquire 74% in Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport
  • Through the agreement, AAHL will acquire the debt of current promoter GVK group and buy out minority shareholders.
  • MIAL is a joint venture (JV) between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and GVK Industries. Airport Company of South Africa (ACSA) holds 10% and Bidvest Group holds 13.5% in MIAL.

International Day of Charity 2020 → 5th September

  • UN International Day of Charity is observed annually on September 5, to raise awareness about the role of charity to ease poverty and hunger. September 5 was chosen to commemorate the death anniversary of Mother Teresa of Calcutta (Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu), who was the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

  • The day promotes and recognizes charity, charitable organizations & individuals around the word including the work of Mather Teresa) whose role has eased humanitarian crises and suffering in the world and has contributed to create more inclusive and resilient societies.

National Teachers Day 2020 → 5th September

  • India celebrates 5h September of every year as the National Teachers day to honor the roles of teachers in shaping the future of the nation. The day is marked on the birth anniversary of India's former President Bharat Ratna Awardee, renowned teacher and philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was born on 5th September 1888.
  • The first National Teacher's Day was celebrated in 1962.
  • Radhakrishnan hails from Tiruttani, Madras Presidency (now Tamil Nadu). He served as the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962. He became the second President of India in 1962 and served till 1967.
