Answers :
1) Answer: C
(A – 3)/(B – 3)=3:4
4A – 12=3B – 9
4A – 3B=3
((B + 4) + (C + 4))/2=40
B + C=72
A’s age after 9 years=72/2=36 years
A’s present age=36 – 9=27 years
4 * 27 – 3B=3
B=35 years
C=72 – 35=37 years
2) Answer: E
A + B + C + D=42 * 4=168
B + C + D=28 * 3=84
A + B=144
A=168 – 84 = 84 years
B =144 – 84 = 60 years
C + D =168 – (84 + 60) = 24 years
After 10 years B’s age=60 + 10=70 years
C’s age after 10 years=70 * 3/70=30 years
Present age of C=30 – 10=20 years
D =24 – 20 = 4 years.
3) Answer: E
(A – 5)/(B – 5) = 2/1
A – 5 = 2B – 10
A – 2B = -5
A = B + 20
B + 20 – 2B=-5
B = 25
A = 25 + 20=45
C = 120/100 * (45 + 25)
= 84 years
After 8 years C’s age = 84 + 8=92 years
4) Answer: B
The respective ratio of the present ages of father to son is 7:3
Father’s age = 7x
Son’s age = 3x
Five years age, Father’s age = 7x-5
Son’s age = 3x-5
(7x – 5)/(3x – 5) = 5/2
14x – 10 = 15x – 25
x = 15
Son’s present age = 15 * 3=45 years
After 10years, the son’s age = 55 years
5) Answer: A
A=120B/100
A=6/5 * B
B=125/100 * C
B=5/4 * C
5A/6=5/4 * C
A/3=C/2
A=3C/2
3C/2 + 5/4 * C + C=50 * 3
6C + 5C + 4C=600
C=40 years
175% of C’s age=175/100 * 40
=70
