Answers :
1) Answer: D
Maximum marks in History = 12x
Maximum marks in Physics = 13x
Maximum marks in Maths = 100/80 * 12x = 15x
A’s marks in History = 72/100 * 12x = 8.64x
A’s marks in Physics = 13x * 60/100 = 7.8x
A’s marks in Maths = 15x * 65/100 = 9.75x
Percentage in A = (8.64x + 7.8x + 9.75x)/40x * 100
= 65.475%
C’s marks in History = 12x * 87/100 = 10.44x
C’s marks in Physics = 13x * 95/100 = 12.35x
C’s marks in Maths = 15x * 80/100 = 12x
Percentage in C = (12x + 12.35x + 10.44x)/40x * 100
= 86.975%
Required ratio = 86.975:65.475
= 3479:2619
2) Answer: D
D’s marks in Physics = 110/100 * 60 = 66
D’s marks in History = 125/100 * 72 = 90
D’s marks in Chemistry = 120/100 * 54 = 64.8
D’s marks in Maths = 110/100 * 65 = 71.5
D’s marks in Biology = 115/100 * 44 = 50.6
D’s marks in Botany = 120/100 * 47 = 56.4
Required percentage = [(66 + 90 + 64.8 + 71.5 + 50.6 + 56.4)/600] * 100
= 66.55%
3) Answer: B
Maximum marks in Biology, Botany and Maths = 8: 5: 12
C’s marks in Botany = 5x * 56/100 = 2.8x
C’s marks in Maths = 12x * 80/100 = 9.6x
Required percentage = [(2.8x + 9.6x) / (5x + 12x)] * 100
= 73%
4) Answer: E
Maximum marks of each subjects is not given.
So, we can’t find the percentage marks scored by B and C in all the subjects together.
5) Answer: A
A’s marks in Physics = 150 * 60/100 = 90
A’s marks in Chemistry = 200 * 54/100 = 108
A’s marks in Botany = 180 * 47/100 = 84.6
Total marks in A = 90 + 108 + 84.6 = 282.6
B’s marks in Physics = 150 * 75/100 = 112.5
B’s marks in Chemistry = 200 * 55/100 = 110
B’s marks in Botany = 180 * 53/100 = 95.4
Total marks in B = 112.5 + 110 + 95.4 = 317.9
Difference = 317.9 – 282.6 = 35.3
