e) None of these

2) Total distance covered by A,D on Tuesday is approximately what percentage of the total distance covered by B,C on Wednesday? It is given that distance covered by A,D on Wednesday is 270km, 210km respectively also distance covered by B,C on Tuesday is 210km, 450km respectively

a) 50%

b) 45%

c) 59%

d) 57%

e) 55%

3) Total distance covered by C on both days together is 510km, then find the speed of C on Monday

a) 120km/hr

b) 160km/hr

c) 140km/hr

d) 90km/hr

e) None of these

Answers :

1) Answer: E

It is given that,

Speed of B on Wednesday = 60 km/hr

                        b/2 – 14.28% of b/2 = 60

                        b/2 - 1/7of (b/2) =60

Therefore, Speed of B on Monday (b) = 140km/hr

Distance covered by B on Monday = Speed × Time taken

Speed of B on Tuesday = b/2 = 70km/hr

Therefore distance covered by B on both days together is,

                                                = 3(70) + 4.5(60)

                                                =210 + 270

                                                =480km

Speed of A on Monday = 80km/hr

Speed of A on Tuesday = 80% 0f (80) = 64km/hr

Distance covered by A on Tuesday = 2.5(64) = 160km

Speed of A on Wednesday = 64+10 =74km/hr

Distance covered by A on Wednesday =3×74 =222km

Total distance covered by both of them is 480+160+222 =862km

2) Answer: E

Speed of A on Wednesday = 270/3 =90km/hr

 80%of a +10 = 90

Therefore speed of A on Tuesday = 80km/hr

Distance covered by A on Tuesday= 2.5*80 = 200km

Similarly, distance covered by D on Tuesday = 168.75km

Speed of B on Tuesday = 210/3 =70km/hr

Distance covered by B on Wednesday= 60*4.5 =270km

Similarly distance covered by C on Wednesday= 400km

Required percentage = 368.5/670 ×100 = 55%

3) Answer: A

Let speed of C on Tuesday = 3x

Therefore speed of C on Wednesday= 2x

Total distance covered = 510km

(3x*4.5 + 2x*6) = 510

                        x=20

Therefore speed of C on Monday (2x) =40km/hr

4) Answer: D

There is no relationship between speed of A,C,D on Monday and speed of B,C,D on Wednesday, there solution cannot be established from the given data.

5) Answer: A

Distance covered by B on Tuesday= 3(b/2)

Distance covered by C on Wednesday = 6c

Sum of the distance covered by B on Tuesday and C on Wednesday is 370km.

            3b/2 +6c = 370

            3b+12c =740

Similarly,

Sum of the distance covered by C on Tuesday, B on Wednesday is 135km.

            4.5(1.5c) - 27b/14 = 135

            27c -54b/7 =540

            c-2b/7 = 20

            7c – 2b = 140

By solving the above equations we can get, b= 700/9 km/hr

 c=380/9 km/hr

sum of the speed of B&C on Monday = 700/9+380/9 =120km/hr
