a) 31%

b) 41%

c) 27%

d) 35%

e) None of these

Answers :

1) Answer: A

Total population of India is,

= (Total production of sugar – Export of sugar)/(Per capita availability)

= (645 – 215)/0.544

= 430/0.544

= 790 million

2) Answer: D

Average number of export of sugar in all the year is,

= (207 + 189 + 209 + 215 + 220)/5

= 1040/5

= 208

Average number of production of sugar in all the year is,

= (481 + 561 + 587 + 645 + 660)/5

= 2934/5

= 586.8

So, the required percentage is = 208/586.8 × 100 ≈ 35%

3) Answer: C

Proportion of sugar exported in any year is,

= Exports in that year/Production in that year

Proportion of sugar exported in 2015-16 = 207/481 = 0.43

Proportion of sugar exported in 2016-17 = 189/561 = 0.33

Proportion of sugar exported in 2017-18 = 209/587 = 0.35

Proportion of sugar exported in 2018-19 = 215/645 = 0.33

Proportion of sugar exported in 2019-20 = 220/660 = 0.33

So, the highest percentage increase is in = 2015-16

4) Answer: B

The total sugar production of 2015-2018 = 481 + 561 + 587 = 1629

 The total sugar export of 2017-2020 = 209 + 215 + 220 = 644

Difference = 1629 – 644 = 985

5) Answer: D

Average per capita availability of sugar is,

= (487 + 464 + 510 + 544 + 566)/5

= 2571/5

= 514.2

Average number of export of sugar in all the year is,

= (207 + 189 + 209 + 215 + 220)/5

= 1040/5

= 208

Average number of production of sugar in all the year is,

= (481 + 561 + 587 + 645 + 660)/5

= 2934/5

= 586.8

So, the sum of production and export is = 208 + 586.8 = 794.8

Thus, the required percentage is = (794.8 – 514.2)/794.8 × 100

= 280.6/794.8 × 100 ≈ 35%

Hence, the required answer is= 35%.
